We're excited to spotlight Dr. Kaitlin McDonald and the incredible journey of one of her patients who has found relief from knee discomfort just in time to fully embrace the joys of this invigorating season.
Dr. Kaitlin McDonald is committed to helping patients find relief from joint pain.
"As a physical therapist, this program is a dream come true for me. It allows me the opportunity to deliver holistic care to each patient and work closely with a team of healthcare professionals. The nurse practitioner addresses the root cause of knee pain using a series of HA injections. While my goal is to understand how pain limits their ability to fully engage in their life and what I can do to help.
Knee pain rarely exists in isolation; it often comes from gait compensations, years of running, mobility limitations in other parts of the body, etc. That’s why I take a comprehensive approach, examining the body as a whole.
I am able to work closely with each patient one-on-one over a two month period, empowering them to achieve their unique goals. Whether it’s playing with grandchildren, hiking, or starting to go to the gym. We also maintain ongoing communication and intermittent check-ins to assess their progress and any new needs, establishing a lifelong partnership with each person."
Kathy W. is one of our clients who has seen positive results from this treatment and has been able to resume her active lifestyle.
"I have experienced significant osteoarthritis (“bone on bone”) and the pain that accompanies such in both knees for many years. I had led an active/athletic lifestyle my entire life and got to the point where quality of life was being negatively impacted and limitations obvious.
I remained an advocate of choosing to avoid joint replacement surgery if at all possible and was seeking less invasive procedures for relief. I learned of the procedure with Denver Pain Relief Center through my regular chiropractic visits with Dr. Graham Reinhardt and the amazing team at Reinhardt Chiropractic and Wellness Center.
Even with the scary-looking X-rays revealing and confirming the known issues and a thorough knee health assessment, I was a candidate for the hyaluronic acid (HA) injections. These differed greatly from the cortisone injections I had done before in one knee from an orthopedic doctor that provided very temporary, if any, relief. The procedure through Denver Pain Relief Center is a very prescriptive process guided by very targeted placement for injections with real-time arthroscopic imaging resulting in accuracy and effectiveness of the HA injection.
I would be remiss if I did not emphasize the importance and effectiveness of the post-injection plan which includes stimulation and physical therapy. Dr. Kaitlin McDonald has not only treated me for knee recovery, but through my physical therapy sessions, she has also taught me newly founded techniques through a holistic approach to wellness. The benefits just keep on coming!
Through the entire process - assessment, paperwork, insurance questions, series of injections, physical therapy regimen, home exercise program, and follow-up - the collaborative team approach to care and attention I received from everyone at the center was and continues to be phenomenal!
While I am under no false pretenses of what the procedure can “fix” I can joyfully share that I have fully resumed the active lifestyle I love - cycling, swimming, walking, and hiking! And without always needing extra days of rest in between activities!"
